2015 Quest For The West Show at the Eiteljorg Museum
Indianapolis, IN

The Quest For The West Show at the eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis, IN went well as I sold 3 of my 4 paintings, and won for the 2nd year in a row the Artists Choice Award (I tied for the Award with Gladys Roldan de Moras - congrats Gladys, it was a pleasure to share it with you!).  What a great event year after year....The Museum does an amazing job, and another record was set for sales on the night of the big draw.  Thanks to all the staff who work so hard to make it a success......

2015 Prix de West

(Sunday June 14, 2015) Just got back from my first Prix de West in Oklahoma City, and as new artist I was allowed to have 2 paintings in the show ("Tinype" and "To The Rescue") - and happy to say that both of them sold Saturday night.  Gotta tell everyone, that this event is the best - wonderful folks, wonderful food, amazing art, an amazing museum and a couple of great presentations.  Val came along, which made it all the better......Thanks to all who who welcomed me with open arms....and I saw alot of my artist friends, and make several new ones (the amount of talent running around the museum was almost scary!).  Can't wait until next year!

At the Eiteljorg Museum, Indianapolis, IN  Sep 4-6, 2014

Michael sold all 4 of his paintings at the show, and his painting "Giving Thanks for Fair Weather, Sweet Grass and A Hot Supper" won 2 awards, The Patron's Choice Award and The Artists' Choice Award.
Michael says "Speaking for most artists, I can say that we feel lucky when we do a painting that seems to hit a positive nerve with our audience, and this seems to be one of those paintings.  Alot of folks prior to and during the show had made numerous positive comments about the painting - it's theme of thankfulness, the light, the design, color and the nature of the characters in the painting.  So to be honest, I felt that there was a possibilty (albeit a small one considering all of the great work that was in the show), that it might have a chance at an award. Truly, I was not prepared for the fact that it won something, and even more surprised that it won 2 awards. Many, many thanks to the patrons of the show and especially to my fellow artists. Nothing is more gratifying and humbling then to receive recognition from ones brothers and sisters, all painters and sculptors of extraordinary talent who pour their hearts and hard labor into the practice of their craft. To the staff and great folks at The Eiteljorg, thanks for the opportunity to be a part of such a classy, fun and memorable event!".

Michael sold his painting "Prairie Fire" at the auction for $37,500 (plus 17% buyers premium). The auction seemed to be a big success, and Michael had a great time fellowshipping with buyers, artists and gallery owners.  Looking forward to another grand event in 2015!

Michael sold his painting "Where They Once All Roamed" at the Saturday night live auction at the C. M. Russell Museum event in Great Falls , MT in March.  Thanks to all of the staff at the Russell for putting on a great auction.......Hope to see everyone there next year.

GENESIS PAINTING PROJECT - Commissions from Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, Chicago, IL

Michael finished the 4 paintings that he has been working on over the last year and a half that were created for Adventist Hinsdale Hospital in Chicago, IL.  They represent the days of creation that are written in Genesis Chapter 1:1-31, Chapter 2:1-4.  The artist Larry Dyke (from Texas) did days one through three.  Michael did days four through seven.  The final installed gallery was dedicated on Wednesday Sept 3rd, 2014.  Below are the paintings for days 4, 5, 6 and 7.

"It was a privilege to be a part of such a large and ambitious project, and many thanks to Fran Gassner (the art coordinator and designer from Boulder, CO), David Crane and the creative team at Hinsdale, and also to Larry Dyke.  We all believe that the good Lord will use these paintings to bring His peace and joy to the patients and their families that come to Hinsdale Hospital.  I know that they will contribute to the awesome spirit of love, care and peace that I found when I was there for the dedication."

Michael has just completed a cover painting and a large number of inside pieces of artwork for a new Bible that will be published this summer called the Founders Bible (updated New American Standard Bible Reference Edition).  It will be published by Shiloh Road Publishing, and has extensive writings from renowned historian and writer David Barton, founder and president of Wallbuilders.  The additional writing and historical stories and material David has included showcase the Biblical principals that our founding fathers used to establish a new nation.  I will be in Dallas at the Glenn Beck "Restoring Love" event July 26-28 at the Founders Bible booth at Cowboy Stadium.  Maybe I'll see some of you there!  See below for the cover painting and a few samples of the inside artwork.  CLICK HERE to go the new website.
